Golf Carts Need Attention Too
Your golf cart has sat most of the Winter without playing in the snow or even taking off the cover. It’s time to pull off that storage cover and see how it looks. We know many clients don’t use their golf cart during the Winter months and often forget to check on the unit until it’s too late. It’s a simple decision: either maintain it or you’ll replace it.
Must Do Maintenance Before Peak Season
Let’s discuss general maintenance before we get into specifics between gas and electric systems. You may want to reference this list before the storage season to prevent issues and keep your golf cart performing in top condition.
- Check tire pressure and fill within 5 PSI of the recommendation
- Check bushings for any deterioration and dryness
- Wash seats with degreaser (test a small spot first) and magic eraser if you have any mildew or mold accumulation

Electric Golf Carts Only
- Clean the charger and clear any clutter or debris around it so the charger can vent adequately
- Clean battery terminals of corrosion and tighten nuts. Replace any old or worn battery cables
- Check water levels in flooded lead-acid batteries when the golf cart is fully charged. Use distilled water if you need to replace water levels
Gas Golf Carts Only
- Check oil levels
- Clean the battery terminal of corrosion and tighten the nuts
Reminders
This is not a comprehensive list of all maintenance on a golf cart, but it’s a good start once you uncover the unit after the brutal Winter. Electric chargers will NOT charge batteries if the golf cart is completely dead. We recommend using a smart charger during the Winter months or charging once every 2 weeks.
